decrytping

Hi keep getting this error when i try and decrypt . Was trying to decrypt txt i sent a friend to see if iv sent it correctly ,does this mean they wont be able to decrypt either . Not sure if its poss even to do this . Im new to this software . Any advice wod b great thx

The GPGME library returned an unexpected
error at gpafiledecryptop.c:540. The error was:

No secret key

This is either an installation problem or a bug in GPA.
GPA will now try to recover from this error.

You will not be able to decrypt the message unless you include one of your own keys when encrypting. Your friend should still be able to decrypt it, as long as they have the secret key which matches the public key you used.

What Sean said is completely correct.

But in Gpg4win-3.1.2 there is a problem that a missing integrity protection can lead to decryption errors and that the error is communicated falsely either as “Decryption Failed” in general or as “No Secret Key”.

You might want to try out the 3.1.3 beta and then use Kleopatra to decrypt. Kleopatra has better error handling and would also show you to which keys the message / file is actually encrypted to.
